Stress, negativity, and seemingly unsolvable problems are encountered daily by pharmacy faculty, staff, residents, and students. We can choose to either be pessimistic about our circumstances or stay motivated and work strategically toward a solution. In this session we will describe the constructs and research regarding positivity and intentional optimism. Participants will engage in relevant case discussions and leave the session with numerous strategies/methods and resources for creating a culture of positivity through intentional optimism.

Objectives
- Describe the research related to the impact of optimism on wellbeing, work effectiveness and health and a framework for well-being and the role that optimism plays.
- Evaluate a case scenario and identify how to reframe a pessimistic viewpoint to a positive response.
- Develop a list of strategies/methods for cultivating a culture of positivity and intentional optimism.
